Yoruba Official dies

CRESPO, 73, of Overtown, who was Chief Apesin Araba of
Lagos, the official representative
of Yoruba in the Americas and the Caribbean,
has entered into the “Land of Plenty.’’ He leaves
behind wiser minds, warmer hearts, and richer souls
through the multitude whose lives he touched. His spirit will
live on through his heirs: his son, Henry Crespo, Sr; Emma Crespo
and Celia Crespo, his sisters; Cari Solorzano, Elena Robinson
and Gemenise Willis, his nieces; and Henry Crespo, Jr., Jabriel
Crespo, Nimiya Crespo, Saliah
Crespo, and Kiera Crespo, his grandchildren; beloved wife, Patricia
Crespo, and spiritual godchildren, including Franciso Granda,
Leon Rolle, Merckle Coppins, Lucius Gantt, Marilyn Williams, Monica
Simons, Curtis “Tahoti” Vaughn, Selina Washington,
William Williams, Gino, Andrew from New Jersey and many others.
Services will be held Saturday, May 31 at 219 NW 14th Terrace

LEE POOLE, JR., 70, of Miami died May 24. He was the
eldest child of the late Anna and Johnnie Poole, Sr. He attended
Dunbar Elementary School and Booker T. Washington Senior High
School, graduating in the class of 1950. Johnnie continued his
education at Xavier University in New Orleans, LA graduating with
a degree in pharmacy with honors. After graduation he made his
home in Chicago, IL where he owned his own drug store until his
retirement. As a child he was baptized at the St. Luke Missionary
Baptist Church. He was a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity
and other Local organizations in the Chicago area. He leaves to
Mourn his wife, Lillian; three stepchildren, Chicago IL; two sisters,
Mildred Reese, Cincinnati, OH, and Isabelle Dawkins (Earnest),
Miami; two brothers, Rodgers and Glensa Poole, Miami; three nephews,
Cedric and Corey, Miami, Kelvin, Cincinnati, OH and a host of
other relatives and sorrowing friends.

Health administrator dies
CLARENCE
MONTGOMERY, 68, health administrator of Miramar died
on May 21 from cancer. He was born in Uniontown, Alabama and moved
to Detroit, Michigan as a small child. Montgomery served in the
United States Army for two years, received an Honorable
Discharge and returned to Detroit where he worked for the Chrysler
Corporation for a short time. Clarence Montgomery served as Administrative
Officer III, Miami-Dade Community Action Agency, Head Start Program.
Upon leaving Miami-
Dade Community Action Agency, he worked as Executive Director
of St. Alban’s Child Enrichment Center until his illness.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Watkins; two sons, Paul Ivan
and Kevin Montgomery of Detroit Michigan; three brothers, James
and Solomon Montgomery of Detroit Michigan and Benjamin Montgomery
of Santa Monica, California; a special niece, Elizabeth Smith
of Detroit and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral Services
will be held at New
Mount Zion Baptist Church in Hialeah on Wednesday, May 28 at 11
a.m. Interment will be held in Detroit Michigan.
