Two Miami Dade College Honors College student balanced serving their community in several activities while maintaining high grades and graduated.  

Darian Kettles has not let her struggle with fibromyalgia slow her down and continues to give back to others.  The MDC Honors College student founded The Bigger Picture Project, an afterschool program that invites middle school students to think creatively and beyond their curriculum.  The Miami native is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society, YES! for Environmental Sustainability Club, and vice president of the Caring, Helping, Improving club, which spreads mental health awareness and helps those struggling with mental illness. The English major would like to continue her studies at Scripps College.  She plans to become a social entrepreneur to create an analytical agency for schools.

 Isaiah Gaudin’s passion for the law and the legal system has prompted him to pursue a career as an attorney.  The MDC Honors College student currently holds certification as an accredited legal professional and is a member of the National Association of Legal Professionals.  He is also president of the Political Science Club, treasurer of the Student Government Association and a director of honors in action of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society.  He is also an active volunteer with the college’s food pantry, as a peer tutor and the Pace Center for Women.  He is the recipient of the MDC Foundation and the Miami Food Trades scholarships.  He plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Economics with a concentration in Business Economics and Public Policy and then attend law school.
