The 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project hosted a “Finished High School … Now What?" conference on Nov. 5 at Jungle Island. One thousand boys of color from 32 Miami-Dade County Public Schools' senior highs attended. Students explored various opportunities at vocational schools, colleges, universities, law enforcement, military branches, Miami Fire-Rescue and other organizations and companies. In addition, students learned a myriad of professional, academic and life-skills at the conference to prepare them for their future endeavors. Many of the students in the 5000 Role Models of Excellence project come from low-income families and are without a father in their homes.
