2022 Wilson Scholars
Wilson Scholars
A proclamation ceremony including Superintendent Dr. Jose Dotres and vice-chair Dr. Steve Gallon was held at the Miami-Dade County School Board last week to recognize the 104 Wilson Scholars from 19 Miami-Dade County Public High Schools who were accepted to attend more than 22 institutions of higher learning next year, including colleges, universities, first responder academies and the military. Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) play a prominent role in that number. One student was even accepted into the Ivy League and will attend Columbia University in New York. The students are members of the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project and are called Wilson Scholars after organization founder, Congresswoman Frederica Wilson.
