The agency established to ensure the equitable participation of Blacks in Miami-Dade County held a workshop on homeownership in Miami Gardens on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.
Miami-Dade Economic Advocacy Trust presented its inaugural Community First, whose goal is to change the economic landscape through homeownership.
Topics of discussion covered ways to secure downpayment assistance; the pros and cons of reverse mortgages; funding home improvement projects; and the impacts of gentrification.
During the workshop, information about military Veteran mortgage assistance was provided, and attendees got a chance to ask questions and be informed about estate planning; home improvement and the power of land partnerships.
MDEAT partnered with Miami Gardens Chamber of Commerce; CountyCommissioner Barbara Jordan; the Black Affairs Advisory Board; and the Miami-Dade Branch of the NAACP.
