Liberty Square reunion

Miami-Dade County Commissioner Audrey Edmonson is joined by Related Urban Senior Vice President Albert Milo, left, Miami Commissioner Keon Hardemon, second from left, and scholarship recipients from Miami Northwestern Senior High School.

Current and former Liberty City neighbors and supporters came together last Saturday for a day of fellowship, food and fun. The Liberty City Family Reunion, a free community event, served as a celebration of Liberty City’s roots and history. The event took place at the Liberty Square Community Center and featured a barbecue picnic, live music and scholarship awards recognition powered by Miami-Dade County Commission Chairwoman Audrey Edmonson and Miami Commissioner Keon Hardemon. Edmonson was honored by Liberty Square Project Friends & Family Reunion organization.

During the event, several graduating seniors from Miami Northwestern Senior High School were recognized with the Liberty Square Scholarships presented by the Related Urban Development Group, the developer of the Liberty Square Rising project, which is currently taking place. The students received $5,000 scholarships to their chosen college or university. Photos courtesy of Miami-Dade County.
