Urgent Inc., in collaboration with Delou’s Africa Dance Ensemble & Delou’s Youth Arts initiative, hosted a community celebration and recognition ceremony Saturday for the graduating class of the Rites of Passage and F.A.C.E. (Film, Arts, Coding, and Entrepreneurship) programs.

The graduating class consists of the young ladies from the Rites of Passage program and interns in the F.A.C.E. program, which offers life skills and professional enrichment to boys and girls of high school age. The event, held at Hadley Park Multi-Purpose Room, was sponsored by The Children’s Trust, Women’s Fund, and Miami-Dade County. The festivities featured performances by the dance ensembles Venus Rising and Delou’s Africa with commencement speaker entrepreneur, Tina Howell.

Howell, an entrepreneur with more than 25 years of experience in the business world, owns and serves as CEO of Virtual Home Care Inc., a home health agency located in Dallas, Texas, as well as two Wingstop franchises in South Florida. At the 2015 Black Enterprise Entrepreneurs Summit, Howell was named Franchisee of the Year  in recognition of the growth of her Wingstop franchise locations.

“My first location is still one of the top producing Wingstop restaurants in the region. I get awards [from corporate] for being a member of Wingstop’s Million Dollar Club, once you reach that level of sales,” says Howell, who was a featured speaker at the summit.

Delou’s Africa Dance Ensemble has been providing children and adults of our diverse communities the opportunity for expression, growth and appreciation by facilitating artistic education through traditional African dance, drum, music, and history.
