Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls … it's back!  On the evening of April 7, Season 4 of “Lyric Live” kicks off with a mix & mingle happy hour, DJ, live music and concessions. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Possibly Miami’s best amateur talent showcase, “Lyric Live” starts at 8 p.m. at The Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater Complex, located at 819 NE Second Ave., in Overtown.

Similar to “Showtime at the Apollo,” “Lyric Live “has its unique South Florida flavor with a Junkanoo band. The emcee, Chello, focuses his comical material on timely Miami local news and activities.

But the real stars are the contestants, who share their unique talents and compete for a grand prize of $500. The show takes place the first Friday of every month, where the audience decides who wins and loses based on applause and boos.

“Lyric Live” is one of the signature programs presented by the Black Archives as a part of its mission to revitalize Overtown through the arts, the preservation of culture and by empowering our neighbors through employment opportunities. Tickets are available at
