Golden Buddha

Mangos can be used in so many ways. Try the Golden Buddha at Hakkasan and check out its Miami Space offerings thru Sept. 30.

Two things are sure in the heat of summer in South Florida: dining specials and a tasty crop mangoes.

Chefs in Miami-Dade and Broward counties have crafted some tasty morsels and drinks with mango as the star. Go to these restaurants for the mangoes, and while there, check out their Miami Spice and Greater Fort Lauderdale Restaurant Months offerings from now to Sept. 30.

Dune Fort Lauderdale's Yellowfin Tuna is made with fresh mango. Dune is participating in Greater Fort Lauderdale Restaurant Month thru Sept. 30.



Guava Mousse – grilled papaya, mango biscuit and passion fruit sorbet

Sandy’s Secret Mango Chutney 

This recipe can be multiplied based on amount of cut mango. 1 recipe = 2.5 cups of cut fruit 

Bring to a boil:

1 cup brown sugar

1 cup white sugar

3/4 cup cider vinegar 

Once boiling, reduce heat to medium and add:

2 1/2 cups cubed mango

2 tsp. Salt

2 tsp. Mustard seed

1 1/2 tsp. Crushed red chili flakes

2 cloves chopped garlic

1 large minced onion (sweet onion is best!) 

1 inch fresh grated ginger

1 cup raisins or currents or white raisins or a combo

Cook on medium low until dark and thick, stirring frequently to ensure even heating. When you reach the right consistency, process into sterile jars and seal in hot water bath.
