The Dr. Robert B. Ingram Foundation was presented a check for $50,000 by State Rep. James Bush III during a ceremony held on Aug. 5. The funds will support the program Read to Lead, which is administered by the foundation, located at 1155 Sharar Ave., Opa-locka. The funds were appropriated by Gov. Ron DeSantis.
The executive director of the Dr. Robert B. Ingram Foundation is Miami Gardens Councilman Erharbor Ighodaro. Under his adminstration, the Read to Lead program has awarded over 5,000 scholarships to students in Miami-Dade County Public Schools. The scholarships entitle students to an all-expenses paid, two-day, one night educational excursion of Black history sites and culminates at one of Florida's major theme parks.
